We are pleased to announce we have been given Read write Inc Model School status. This is recognition of how well we implement the programme. At the time of writing we are the only school in Birmingham to have achieved this. Read Write Inc is the synthetic phonic programme devised by Ruth Miskin, a leading educationalist in this field. It is an inclusive literacy programme for all children learning to read and write from Foundation to Year 4. It is also suitable for older children with learning difficulties.

At Brookvale we have developed this over the last few years and now deliver the programme very competently. Since it's introduction reading and writing attainment has improved dramatically.

This year we are introducing Read Write Inc comprehension and we hope that this has the same dramatic effect as Read Write Inc.
