Grid Club

Welcome to the Grid Club Page!

What is Grid Club?

Gridclub is the officially supported Department for Education and Skills website for 7 – 11 year olds. The site contains 500 games and activities all linked to the curriculum and all designed with the aim of making learning fun and interactive for children. Children can access the website to help them with projects and homework and reinforce their learning of topics taught in school.

Is the site safe?

In addition to this, the site educates children and parents on safe internet use. Only junior schools can register to use gridclub which means the website is only accessible to a small age range of children. For extra security, the website is constantly monitored (by adults known as mediators) so that children can safely send other members messages and put forward their views in forums. All emails and live chats are supervised by mediators who ensure inappropriate and explicit material is not exchanged or discussed. Only other gridclub members can participate in live chats and receive and send emails on the site.

What are mediators?

Mediators are experienced and qualified teachers who have a great deal of knowledge about computers. They are managed by a Company called Multimedia and they monitor e-mails; listen and control live chats and encourage the children to extend their knowledge.

How can children access Grid Club?

Brookvale Primary School has purchased a subscription which allows Key Stage 2 children (Years 3 – 6) unlimited access to gridclub at home and school. The children have been given a username and password (also displayed in ICT room at school) which they can use to access the website at any time.
